Me + The Queen B in The OC. Yep. Beyoncé.

Yep. Beyoncé.

It was 1998, Orange County, NY.

I had just finished my freshman year of high school and Destiny’s Child was the fresh-faced girl group opening the Evolution Tour for Boyz II Men.

We’re talking original line up: Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, LaTavia Roberson, and LeToya Luckett.

And they were serving.
We’re talking pre-Beyoncé being a household name and the group was rocking their hit, “No,No,No”.

Pro tip: Part 2. ft. Wyclef Jean is the better version.

Ugh, it was the epitome of 90s cool. Try not to be too jelly.

And though Beyoncé recently launched her Cowboy Carter Tour, it doesn’t seem she’ll be visiting the Mid-HV this summer.

No matter, I was fangirling then and I’m fangirling now.

Here’s why:

We’ve got two music events this May featuring equally inspiring powerful women.

#1) Tomorrow: Our beloved coworker, Cody, is hosting a fundraiser for Ulster Immigrant Defense Network.
This is a donation based community event in support of our friends and neighbors. Walk-ins welcome.

#2) Wednesday, May 21: We’re partnering again with ConnectHV for the May Meetup. This is the first meetup + concert featuring Ginger Winn.
Hosted in our event venue, Senate Garage, this is a free community event. RSVP required.

Hope to see you there.

Your cool 90s friend + Community Manager,
Melanie
