IT’S WOMEN’S MONTH
The theme for 2024 celebrates “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.”
The theme recognizes women throughout the country who understand that, for a positive future, we need to eliminate bias and discrimination entirely from our lives and institutions.
A quick story:
I recently saw a video clip in which Reese Witherspoon was discussing her career changing role as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. A movie about a sorority girl turned legal student.
It was a pivotal role for both Reese and many others. But why?
Representation.
Legally Blonde is 23 years old. To this day, Reese is approached by women telling her that either they or their mothers were inspired to be a lawyer based on seeing her in that role.
And though Reese is not a lawyer, that representation of a woman fighting for equity and inclusion in a male dominated sector struck a cord for the next generation and empowered them.
In this issue, I’m featuring some amazing women providing resources for those in need, offering leadership and connection in their industries, and speaking up for those who cannot. Leaders.
I think they’re amazing. You will too.
