Hey, Friends.
Did you make a wish for the new year?
Here’s the root of mine:
Many holiday seasons ago, when I was 8, I was brought to a public holiday gathering filled with caroling.
I did not know the other attendees beyond my family.
We had just finished Silver Bells, when the guitarist asked if anyone wanted to sing or pick the next song for the group.
And me, being freshly off that year’s grade school concert, decided I needed to sing Silver Bells, again.
Like I was taught in school, as a duet, but all by myself.
Ya know, how you usually sing duets.
And, no, I’m not a good singer, I can barely ever remember any lyrics of songs, and I’m a bit tone deaf.
So a real treat for all in attendance.
This holiday season, instead of holiday decorations, we hosted a wish tree at CoWork Kingston.
Like a wishing well, but it’s a tree. It was inspired by the Turkish tradition, in which we made a wish and tied ribbons on the branches.
Where am I going with this?
Of course, I made a wish. And it’s for you. All of you.
So whether you made a resolution, have goals, are working on what the new year means for you, or don’t do the New Year, New “whatever” thing ……
Take my wish with you: Bravery
Bravery (and strength) to accomplish whatever you might plan this year and to assist you with the unplanned.
The same bravery of an 8 year old, tone-deaf child, singing in front of strangers, showing them how to sing a duet solo.
You got this.
Much love: Melanie, Community Manager
